Stage Kiss

Until August 30, 2015

Don't miss the Guthrie's production of this smart romantic comedy from Pulitzer prize nominated Sarah Ruhl. Set during a revival of a dreary 1930's play, we follow two actors, and former lovers, as their long extinguished flame is rekindled...

The Events

October 16-24, 2015

First premiering in 2013 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, award-winning Scottish playwright David Greig’s The Events comes to the Guthrie Theatre. The play follows an unnamed community in search for compassion, peace and forgiveness following an act of unspeakable violence, which saw their choir gunned down in cold blood. A response to the 2011 Norway terrorist attacks, this critically acclaimed production delves into faith, politics and forgiveness, and features music sung by a different community choir at each performance, making each staging a truly unique experience.

The Cocoanuts

November 14, 2015-January 3, 2016

A perfect musical comedy farce to chase away the winter chills, this Irving Berlin musical sees the Marx Brothers feature in their very own show! With Groucho Marx owning a down and out hotel in Florida, he spends his days trying to sell bad property to wealthy Northern folk, and trying to marry rich young heiresses to secure his fortune. One day, it all seems to come to fruition - right up until his chaotic brothers decide to pay a visit!

Trouble In Mind

May 7-June 5, 2016

A blistering exploration of racial tensions within the theater world, Alice Childress seminal play takes place during the less enlightened 1950s era and is a semi-satirical backstage comedy, but one that remains startlingly relevant today. When the first integrated play is about to open on Broadway, racial tensions between the black and white players surface, and one African-American actress has a stark choice to make when it comes to chasing her dream role as a lead.

Disgraced

July 16-August 28, 2016

Ayad Akhtar's 2013 Pulitzer Prize winner, and 2015 Tony Award nominated Best Play about social prejudices explodes onto the stage at the Guthrie Stage. The play follows an ill-fated dinner party held by Pakistan-American lawyer Amir and his wife Emily. The evening starts off pleasantly enough, however as the drinks flow and the clock ticks, racial tensions come to the fore and culminate in a drastic action taken by Amir which will have serious consequences for himself.
