While Jeff Bridges is best known as an actor, his Academy Award-winning turn in 2009's Crazy Heart introduced many to a whole different side of Bridges - his talents as a musician and singer. Music has always played a huge part in Bridges life, and indeed early on in his life he was unsure whether to pursue this path rather than acting. Fortunately for fans of The Big Lebowski, Tron and The Last Picture Show, Bridges ultimately chose a career on the silver screen, but in recent years his passion for music has come to the fore.
He made his proper debut album in 2000 with Be Here Soon, a steadfastly lo-fi effort which benefitted from the assistance of a certain Michael McDonald. Burgeoned by the success of his role as Crazy Heart's washed up country star Bad Blake, Bridges self-titled follow-up arrived in 2011. Produced by country music legend T Bone Burnett, it was a collection of husky, country inflected Americana, that was a long way from so many yawn-inducing actor's vanity projects.
Bridges is heading out on tour this year with his backing band The Abiders, as well as his daughter Jessie, who'll be the support act on some of the dates.
