The Minneapolis premiere of the 2012 Tony winning holiday musical
A Minneapolis holiday treat event staged by Great Theatre, A Christmas Story invites you into the chaotic home of Ralphie Parker, a nine-year old boy who is desperate to win the most coveted holiday prize: An Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle. Based on the classic 1983 movie, this Tony-nominated musical is the perfect show for all the family this holiday season. Directed by Aimee Miron, choreography is provided by Samantha Collen.
Adapted faithfully for the stage by Joseph Robinette, the funny and witty songs are provided by the songwriting duo of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, whose compositions figured prominently on the NBC show Smash. Sure to appeal to all the family, this musical is a whimsical, nostalgic portrait of 1940s America and a true holiday classic. This musical features all the hilariously iconic scenes from the movie, and its eclectic score including the very funny "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!", Ralphie to the Rescue!, A Major Award, and Sticky Situation, which were written by the award-winning duo behind TV hit Smash!.
