All aboard for the 2016 Shine A Light Tour
Home-grown Grammy-winning country artist and producer Joe Henry is teaming up with English folk singer and political activist Billy Bragg for a States-wide tour that celebrates the railway that built America, as well as the music that cemented the folk and country genre. Having recorded the album this March on trains, in waiting rooms and by the tracksides, this train-inspired musical tour celebrates an American era-gone by, hitting The Cedar in Minneapolis, MN, Closed October 17, 2016
The album came about through a joint appreciation for long and epic railway journeys across America. Fellow country artists Billy Bragg and Joe Henry, boarded a Los Angeles-bound train from Chicago in order to gain inspiration for their concept album and reconnect with the age-old tradition of country-wide travel, as well as the vast catalog of music it has inspired from music's earliest days. Travelling a phenomenal 2,728 miles over the course of four days, this album of classic songs inspired by the railway was recorded on the spot without the need for recording studios or gigs.
