PEOPLE NEED PEOPLE NOW

Great original score with an additional number which isn’t needed. Beanie’s interpretation of Fanny Brice is pretty pretty good. Nobody can be Barbara. The actor playing Nick Arnstein is awesome. Excellent voices by all. Shout out to Jane Lynch for her top performance. In these times, it was great to see a classic Broadway musical and be back in NYC. See this show before tickets become difficult to obtain. People need people NOW!

A WONDERFUL SHOW

On 9/10/22, went to the show excited to see Lea Michelle. Unfortunately she and others in the cast were hit with Covid. Disappointed, yes. But the cast pulled together and did a phenomenal performance. Julie Benko hit a home run! Thank you, to the cast, for stepping up and performing wonderfully.

OUTSTANDING

I saw a funny girl with beanie Feldstein. She was OK. But it just wasn’t right. I went back to see Lea Michelle do the role tonight. after having Covid she was spectacular. She performed every song and every step without a hitch. She brought a whole new life to the part. It seemed as though even the cast was enjoying it more. She will have a long run in the show. And because of her the show will stay on Broadway. Let’s hope that she can be considered next year for a Tony. Well deserved. Thank you Lea Michele and Cast For a great night. Remember! Your best critics are the public. I never heard such thunderous applause.

FUNNY GIRL PROVIDENCE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

Excellent performances by entire cast. Katerina McCrimmon outstanding as Fanny Brice! I was disappointed that the revival removed the song "My Man" from the musical numbers. I was looking forward to it and I am sure Ms. McCrimmon would have done an excellent job!

THE QUINTESSENTIAL FUNNY GIRL

Today we experienced magic! I NEVER in my life thought I’d love anything more than the film, FUNNY GIRL! But today we saw the quintessential production of Funny Girl as the National Tour started its run in Providence, RI! Melissa Manchester was at one moment hysterical, loving, charming, vulnerable and Oy!!!!! SUCH A YENTA as Rose Brice. A fabulous performance. But this show is about Fanny Brice and you have to have enormous shoulders to carry off this score and book. #katerinamccrimmon …Katerina McCrimmon did it. And I dare say, matched if not soared above Barbra’s brilliant version. This gal is a superstar waiting to happen. It was like watching Jennifer Holliday when Dreamgirls premiered…. Or Ben Platt as Evan Hansen. Today… we all knew we were watching a star in the making. She was perfection in every way. If you miss this production, you’ll be sorry. It’s playing till the 16th at PPAC in RI! Make the trip. It’s worth every moment. Oy! What a day I had today!!!!

IT WAS…FINE

First off, it felt great to be back in a theater watching a show. Second, I enjoyed Funny Girl and don’t regret going. It felt like the best high school production ever with a few Broadway-worthy moments. Overall, the voices were fine, the acting was fine, the sets were fine, but it wasn’t great.
