THOUGHTFUL, CREATIVE, BRILLIANTLY PRESENTED

I had to chuckle at Reviewer#1's comment that the production was dark. 1939 Germany was one of the darkest periods in modern history. Should one have expected a lighthearted operetta? I think not! I saw the 1998 production on Broadway and, of course, the film version. I enjoyed them, just as I enjoyed this production, which I am told is a near relative of the production performed on the London stage in 1993. Frankly, I was astonished at the quality of this locally produced Cabaret. Other than frequent Guthrie actor, Sally Wingert, I was unfamiliar with the rest of the cast. I thought the performances were extraordinary. Kudos to Peter Rothstein and all involved in this production. And whomever played banjo in the "pit" orchestra, you were terrific! "Note: By saving this review, you attest that you are at least 13 years of age." I'm more than 5 X 13.

WELL DONE, PANTAGES!

I've seen the movie, of course, and I saw Neil Patrick Harris, Molly Ringwald and Tom Bosley in the Broadway production. The Pantages did a wonderful interpretation. it didn't gloss over the hideous nature of what was happening in that time period, but interwove that with the intriguing story of Sally Bowles and the Kit Kat Klub. Well done from the acting/singing to the costumes, set, lights and sound. I thoroughly enjoyed this production!
