THE STORYTELLER STILL CHARMS THE HOUSE

I've been listening to his poetic stories since I was a child and they are every bit as meaningful today. I love it that my fellow Portlandia'rs were singing along to even his lessor known ballads. Truly a beautiful night and his band was totally in sync with him. They sounded great! Kris's 82 year old voice just added more charm to the night. After all, He is one of the few left from his Nashville country rock friends. I'm forever grateful to get to see him finally...

A BRILLIANT WRITER, AN AUDIENCE IN SYNCH

The crowd was with Kris and The Strangers from the minute the concert started! All his songs tell such a story, some of which break your heart. I suprised myself with the welling of emotions when he sang Sunday Morning Coming Down and For The Good Times. He works harder to sing now and continues to captivate. Merle Haggard's band the strangers had amazing vocalist and musicians. I took my mom to the concert for her 90th birthday present. She smiled through the whole concert.

WONDERFUL NIGHT

I have seen Kris many times before, while his voice may not have been quite as strong, his performance was magical. The Strangers were a powerful backup and the entire performance was very cohesive and entertaining. Our seat were very good ( row hh left side) . All in all a fan pleasing event.

KRISTOFFERSON

Another magical night in Westbury. Kristofferson was as charismatic, as ever and the “Strangers” were the perfect backup band. The audience was ecstatic. It was a pleasure to share an evening with such a brilliant poet, musician, actor and philosopher....and inspiring human being.

KRIS KRISTOFFERSON AND THE STRANGERS

Very nostalgic and memorable evening. The staging (particularly the lighting) could have been better, but the band and Kris did not disappoint. I saw him perform in Boulder (with Rita Coolidge) back in the '70s, so of course everyone has grown older! Amazed at his staying power at age 83. So happy I went!

HE'S A POET, HE'S A PICKER...

One of the original Outlaws, Kris Kristofferson has long been my favorite artist-songwriter so this review may be a tad biased. Yes, his voice was weak and has lost some of its range and some of the song transitions weren’t easily recognizable… BUT he hasn’t lost his ability to connect to the crowd and tell a great story whether about lost love, a bar visit gone wrong, or coping with loneliness. No one can wring the emotion from a song like Kristofferson and the set list contained many of his classics which insured that the crowd chimed in, especially for favorites “Me and Bobbie McGee” and “Sunday Morning Coming Down”. The Strangers (of Merle Haggard fame) provided great background accompaniment and Scott Joss laid in some excellent vocal solos. I dare say that this concert “took me back to something that I lost somehow, somewhere along the way”.

REMEMBERING OUR YOUTH.

While his voice was weak, his presence was strong and his memory amazing. This genius songwriter didn’t falter in recalling his poetic and evocative lyrics. The band was great even though the sound system wasn’t. Overall, it was an enjoyable evening with Kris Kristofferson.
