Minnesota Orchestra's supremely talented principal cello Anthony Ross leads his section through Dvorak's magnificent Cello Concerto. A bronze medalist at Moscow's distinguished Tchaikovsky Competition, he brings elegance to the performance from his long and successful career as a concert soloist, having performed around the world and twice being awarded the McKnight Artist Fellowship.
Dvorak's final solo concerto, the Cello Concerto in B minor, was originally composed in 1894 for his close friend, cellist Hanus Wihan. Since its premiere it has been lauded by many critics it as one of the greatest of all cello concertos, with many considering it the finest concerto of its type ever written.
