The Academy Award-winning Prince movie, Purple Rain is coming to the stage nearly 40 years after its silver screen debut, premiering in the dearly departed artist's hometown! The musical, which has been adapted by Obie award winner Branden Jacobs-Jenkins from William Blinn and Albert Magnoli's 1984 screenplay already has an exciting creative team on board. The Lincoln Center Theater's resident director, Lileana Blain-Cruz will be heading up the show with Orin Wolf (who recently worked with Daniel Craig in Macbeth on Broadway) on board as producer. So get ready to cry with the doves and sing along to the tunes of Prince at Purple Rain!
What's It About?
A troubled kid with a difficult home life finds an escape through music with his band. His future in the scene is threatened as he lets his personal struggles get in the way. Will he turn it around or will he descend further into darkness?

Did Not Disappoint!!
I went with to the 2:00 pm sho on Nov 8 with a group of 6, all who are big Prince fans. All of us unanimously felt the show was amazing!! We were initially disappointed that we had the backup actor (Jason Korn) playing "The Kid", however, that went away very quickly as he did a phenomenal job throughout the show, he looked and sounded the part of Prince very well and did a great job acting as well. The rest of the cast was very talented as well and the mix of great music, acting, and humor were excellent. We would highly recommend this show. ... Read more
